Snowmobile sinks in Georgian Bay but rider saved

A snowmobile rider is lucky to be alive as his machine sinks in Georgian Bay on Sunday.

Bruce OPP sent out a release this morning to say that they were called to an area near Cypress Lake National Park Sunday before 10 a.m.

They  found a rider lying on the ice about 300 metres off the shore of the park.

OPP, North Bruce Fire, Bruce County Paramedics and Parks Canada staff brought the man ashore where he was transported to hospital by air ambulance.
The 35-year-old man from Innisfil is being treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
His snowmobile, a Black 2013 Arctic Cat, sank in the waters of Georgian Bay.
