U.S. star showed showmanship early

Ross Miner, who will start competing Wednesday when the men’s short program begins, showed a love of the limelight early.

Although his technical skills needed work, his coach Peter Johansson, saw a quality in him that made him invite Miner to train with him in Boston.

“He was a crowd pleaser,” Johansson remembered.

So skills weren’t as important as that ability to take the attention and shine. Miner did call himself a show off.

We’ll soon know if he’ll please the crowd at Budweiser Gardens.

Miner is the silver medallist from the U.S. championships.

The men’s competition starts at about 5 p.m.

Will you be taking it in, or any of the other skating this week?

Have you met anyone from another part of the world?
