Environmentalists before it was popular

I went to the funeral home to pay respects to my former London Free Press Colleague Peter Geigen-Miller Wednesday night.

In the line in front of me was Joe Cummins, Professor Emeritus of Genetics, University of Western Ontario.

Cummins often made the newspaper for speaking out on the harm we were doing to the environment, long before many of us even thought about our carbon footprint.

And Peter was one writer who understood and made sure the environment got its share of coverage and that Cummins’ important information was disseminated.

Both Joe and Peter were ahead of their time.

Thank you to both for knowing this was a vital issue that needed our attention.

RIP Peter. May your new world be green.
