Dale Hunter’s Caps knock off Stanley Cup champs

They almost didn’t make the playoffs but now the Washington Capitals have defeated the Boston Bruins, last year’s big winner, and move on to the next round in the NHL postseason.

How big of an upset is it?

The Caps are loaded with talent but weren’t living up to expectations when Hunter left the London Knights to take over coaching duties in the U.S. capital.

It didn’t go well for Hunter at first, but slowly, surely the team started to improve.

They won enough games to get into the playoffs and then all bets are off when you make the postseason.

It is the magical time of year when miracles happen and underdogs find ways to win. There is nothing like playoff hockey.

What is Hunter’s strategy?

He seems to have come down hard on big baby Ovechkin. Ovechkin’s offensive game has at least picked up.

I’m sure he has instilled some of his traditions in the players. You work hard each and every shift and you never give up. You play physical and you try to intimidate. A bit of dirty play is fair game.

Can the Caps keep the intensity going or will they lose focus again?
