Sid the Kid is back

Hurray! Sidney Crosby is playing again in the NHL for the first time since last fall.

I’m not a Pens fan but it was certainly good for hockey to have him in the lineup.

The Penguins beat the New York Rangers (glad it wasn’t the Islanders again) 5-2.

Loved the Free Press headline: “The Second Coming.”

Crosby returned too soon to the NHL last time after suffering his concussion and ended up sitting out for several more months. The headline also plays on the importance of his return to the game.

The Pittsburgh Post headline was much more muted: “Cooke steals the show from Crosby” as teammate Matt Cooke scored two goals.

I guess even if you’ve got Crosby on your team, it’s downplayed in the States.

This is a significant story for hockey, don’t you think?
