Thank you to the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada for announcing its fatwa against honour killings.
The council issues a statement this past weekend denouncing such killings.
“There is no justificaiton for honour killings, domestic violence and misogyny in Islam,” the statement said.
I had hoped organizations and individuals would speak out against honour killings after the Shafia trial.
I still can’t believe that parents can murder their children. To say that it is honour is the furthest from the truth.
A fatwa is basically a religious ruling based on knowledge and wisdom.
What do you think of the council stepping forward and issuing this fatwa?
